Sewing..... It's not really my bag, Man!

I have been mulling over making something to store my crochet hooks in for a while now. If I put them down, for even a minute a little black thief "who will remain nameless" (Bella) steals them off to her basket and chews on them! or I lose them at the bottom of my wool bag. I'm not really into sewing although the machine does feature on a few scrap pages from time to time, I have never actually "made" anything. Until today that is.......

My crochet hook roll. I'm very pleased with the finished item although it's not perfect by any means. But it's mine and I made it with no pattern and no help :) there is plenty of room inside to hold my "huge" collection of six hooks my giant knitting needle and room for my scissors and darning needle. And best of all it's red red red and velvet!!!!!! Yummy :)

Packing for the weekend and Dogs in the house.

I'm almost all packed and ready for the third WCC Retreat this weekend. I spent a good chunk of today cropping and editing photos, which I then printed out ready for scrapping with. I have printed far far too many! but I would rather have a good choice of photos to play with then just a few that don't speak to me. I have got to be honest this isn't everything I'm taking with me there are another few bags tucked away in the cupboard.
Stanley (the little dog I collected from his family last week) has settled in well and we are already making good steps in a new training programme for him. There are issues (he's had his own way for too long and doesn't know where he belongs in the pack, which is the bottom at the moment) and I will have to be strong to deal with him. But he's a good little dog and he seems to be eager to please. He and Bella adore each other and spend hours each day playing chase and rough housing (play fighting) with each other.
My little Angel!!! she is such a little dot, I adore her but I must remember that I have another six babies who also need cuddles in the evening. She does tend to hog my lap if I let her :) We did have an incident this afternoon with her stealing my wool!!!! and undoing a whole row of granny stitch as she ran off with the ball. Little TOAD!!!!!
Maggie showed me her tummy today for the camera she is busy growing babies for her Mamma :) they are due in a few weeks. It will be her last litter and I'm sure they will be as lovely as all her other puppies!

Fed up with this running out of wool lark

I got about 15 rows of the granny strip blanket done yesterday but I'm out of wool again now :( I'm not going into town until wednesday at the earliest so I'm having to make do with what I have in my wool bag (& that's not much) I watched a few tutorials on YouTube this morning and have taught myself how to make a granny square. So now with left overs ( that are rapidly decreasing) I'm making another blanket.

Also the lovely man who beings my next deliveries came by this morning with these little lovelies. The ones I bought last week aren't very comfy and I'll have to have a few more wearing in sessions before I can go out in them, but these new ones are perfect!!!

Have a good Monday!!

Started a new crochet project

I ran out of the green wool i'm using to make my broomstick scarf, I'll have to pop into town this week and pick up some more so I can get it finished. In the mean time i have made a good start on a new blanket. I saw this pattern this morning on Attic24 (sorry I haven't figured out how to add links yet while blogging with my phone) Edited to added a LINK to Lucy's wonderful site and the pattern for this blanket

it's one of Lucy's own patterned she calls it a Granny Strip. Its a great pattern to follow and as you can see I'm storming through it, I'm on the 7th row already.

I think I'm going to need more than just green wool when I go to town this week ;)

Take one giant knitting neddle

I was searching YouTube on Thursday morning and found the instructions for a fab new (to me) crochet stitch. It's called broomstick and you need a giant knitting needle to do it. I popped out at lunch and thankfully found a pair in my local wool shop. Here's my broomstick project so far.

It's going to be a simple scarf I'm loving this stitch the scarf is growing really quickly and the stitch is (once you get over being cack handed) really simple.

Catching up with myself

It's been a busy week for me. I was pleased to see Zoe this morning when I arrived at work, although I'm sure she would have rather had another week off on holiday. It was manic last week without her, and I missed having her to chat to. I have however made more of an effort with my secret Christmas gift. By taking my crochet into work and spending my lunch hour making up squares I'm now only about ten squares away from completion.

Once that I Have finished I'm going to have a go at a ripple blanket (I think that the right name for it) as a cot blanket for a friends baby. I have the wool and am keen to get started. But as I'm not very good at following crochet patterns yet, I'll have to have Zoe show me how :)

I was also slightly norty this week and bought myself some new papers and matching dye cuts from WRMK's ready for our retreat next month. I Bought two of the collections "Show and Tell" and "72& Sunny" I'm loving them both and can't wait to cut into them :)

New shoes were also on the shopping list as my beloved work shoes are about to give up the ghost and these little (har har..... I'm a huge size 8 foot) prettys will replace them, once they have been worn in about the house.

Maggie told me a secret this week. She is expecting and I should be ready for puppies around the 16th of next month. I'm very excited maggots babies are always wonderful!!!

I'm on my way now over to Pompy to collect a little boy who is returning to us. Sadly he can no longer live with his family so he is returning to his Nanny . We will have him with us for at least a month so I can assess him and then decide whether he is staying here on a permanent basis or if he will be looking for another forever home.

I finished the wedding book

Although I am a few weeks behind with the WCC challenges, I worked on the wedding album I'm making for my sisters friends , while at the crop this weekend. It's all done now and ready for some bubble wrap and a box so I can ship it up to Suffolk. I kept the pages quite simple as I have a tendency to "over bulk" my pages if I'm not careful and I wanted this album to be able to close (unlike the two wedding albums from last year). I only had a small handful of photos for this album as well so that was useful in limiting me to 12 pages (24 mini LO's). As the only faces in the photos that I knew were my sisters family, It wasn't easy to journal or add titles, so I went for simple titles where I could and have put pockets with empty journaling cards throughout the book for Fran and Marco to fill out themselves. The covers are dye cut shapes I got at CTM covered and inked. I stayed with the jump rings in the end as the ribbon threaded book idea would not work (I needed to have scored the pages before starting the LO's). I have also put four (8 sides) black pages at the back of the book covered in a piece of patterned paper for Fran and Marco to add more photos if they want.
some of the pages

Here's a little Bella update. She had her first "big dog" clip yesterday. At just six months it was a little early to take all her puppy coat off, but the amount of sand she brings home with her from the beach is just amazing!!! so off the coat came.

And Gracie-Lou came too

I'm back for the last day of the craft fair at Wolverton Country Hall. Today as well as the lovely Sarah to keep me company I have brought along Gracie-Lou.

She has already shared a bacon roll with me, I think she is in for being very spoilt today. She might even help increase card sales?

The return of the craft fair

Here I am again at a craft fair and despite the poor show last month at Chale I thought I just had to give it another go, after all we had already paid for the stall so there was nothing to lose it attending.

Rather. Than sitting with nothing to do all weekend I brought my crocheting with me and have so gar managed to make a impressive (well for me) two and a half squares for Trav's blanket. I have done a buy two get one free offer on all my cards and pleasantly have sold quite a few today, many more than the whole weekend at Chale in fact.
However I have been a little naughty and spent some pennys as well, as soon as I saw this little chest I knew I had to have it!!!! It's perfect for storing my punches and SU ink pads in and I know just where I'm going to put it.

Naughty naughty I know but I just couldn't help myself. It's going to be packing up time soon and I think my evening job is going to be making some more signs to advertise 3 for 2 cards. Have a good weekend all. Paige xxx

What's up?

Not a lot of crafting has been going on lately at my house :( I'm still on the full time hours and looks like I'll be staying on them of a while longer (although the change of job is still on the horizon) Crafting in the evenings after work isn't really happening so I have been trying to put time aside at the weekends to "Make Stuff" as Trav says. Unfortunately over the bank holiday I had a raging migraine and that totally put paid to any crafting getting done. I have however made time since Monday each evening and started a mini album for some friends of my sisters. They were married earlier on this year and although I have only met them the once I thought It would be nice to make a little book of their day. I cracked open my wedding project box (I had so many last year I thought it simpler to just keep a box for wedding themed papers and bits), and got started on a album that is roughly 5x7. I took all the photos of FB so they have to be only be printed on the small side.
So far I have completed 15 pages most of which are mini DLO's I have about another 20 photos to use, some more embellishments to make and a few titles to cut out. This kind of project is definitely where I see my cricut shining. Just think how many thickers and other alpha stickers I would need to use to do a title on every page of a 40 page mini book???????

the matching page to this says "Becoming Mr &"

These little tags can be removed and notes from the day can be written on them.

I haven't decided yet on the binding. At the moment it's all being held together with two jump rings But I'm really not a big fan of them. I would like to have it laced together with ribbons in the same way I did my first wedding album last year. But this means that I will need to score all the pages about 3/4" in from the binding so that the book can be opened (lack of forward planning on my part) and now that I have already completed so many pages that might not be an option. We'll see....................
